the worth of something...

hmm... actually there isn't much happening these days... i thought more would happen when school starts but apparently no... lectures are spaced out here, there, over 4 days... so that leaves only one free day... tuesday... bidding for tutorial starts today... but i couldn't get in... yet... so now i'm "wasting" time...

the readings for the modules are thick... okie... they look thin but the font size is so small... and most of the time i don't see the connection between the reading and the module... i just realised that with tutorial my week is only a short 18hours long... that's not very long... pls don't send hate mail... also... i'll probably blog about lectures and stuff... so if i write some plato and sacrotes rambling about something then... yar... i dun think i'll understand also...

last saturday was some prize presentation for the boys' brigade... hmmm... the highest award a boy could recieve was given out at this ceremony... well it used to be 30 odd boys, max 40 plus... this year there were 130 plus boys who got it... i think it says alot of the standards that we have now... just because the overall number of boys increased exponetially doesn't mean the number of people getting the award should increase according... it should have increased to maybe 50? or maybe 50 is the qouta everyyear... wouldn't it make it more valuable??? if everyone is able to get it then it's worth is worth as much as the metal it's made of...

for all you people who are not from the bb... whatever i said would sound like plato rambling on about something else... but if you are from the bb then i'm sure you will understand...

harry potter, chosen one; by choice, not prophecy...

Finally!!!

I have finally finished the Half Blood Prince. It took longer than expected, apparently 5 chapters a day will take about 6 days. But as usual there are better things to do. This book is considerably shorter than the Order of Phoenix, about a hundred odd pages shorter?

Well, considering I started reading the book so late, I've seen all the spoilers. But even knowing the fact that Dumbledore's going to die and that Snape's the Half Blood Prince didn't really effect the intended result of the book. I was still just as shocked when Dumbledore died, but he's only human too i guess. And Snape's just a prat.

The title of the book is THE Half Blood Prince( from now on it's HBP, the name's too long ) but the story is not centred on the title as in the previous books. I felt that the story with or without the potions book owned by the HBP would have gone on smoothly. There are bits and pieces here and there but if JK had expanded on the HBP then maybe she'll be able to meet the number of pages in the Order of the Phoenix.

So now I will sugesst afew new titles for the book:

Harry Potter and the Underaged Death Eater.
This is the main concern that Harry had preoccupied himself this time,Malfoy. After the Harry Potter series, JK could write 7 books from Malfoy's point of view. I bet the line most often seen would be something like; "While Potter was... blah blah blah..."

Harry Potter and the Snog Fest.
Okie, honestly there was not as much as I thought there would be. Reading the comments on the Harry Potter website, I had an impression that JK Rowling had unwittingly written child porn. But I guess this title will get more people to buy the book.

Harry Potter and the Slug Club.
Slughorn is the one cookie characther. He reminded me of the ass in book2, that guy called Lockhart. But at least Slughorn's able to walk the talk. But I guess I know why she didn't choose this title, the Slug Club only existed in the first half of the book.

Harry Potter and the Begining of Voldemort.
This is the main idea, revolving around the lessons that Dumbledore was giving to Harry.

Harry Potter and the Fall of Dumbledore.
Okie, this is the ULTIMATE spolier. Disregard the pun in the title as well.

Okie, maybe writing titles are not that easy. But at least it's dramatic, the HBP has a great effect, made me want to read it to find out who he is. ( Knowing beforehand from spoilers did not change this )

The book is really a much easier read than the Order of Phoenix, less angst. It's also not as dark. In the OoP( no prize what this stands for ), the people and places were all depicted in a dark and troubled times. They talked in the dark, ate in the dark, fought in the dark, looked for things in the dark, slept in the dark (no choice i guess).

Well, since most of you have finished reading it. Hogwarts might not be open next school term. And even if it did, Harry might not be returning!!! I guess the second one is more alarming than the first, the book is about Harry not Hogwarts. This is a clever ploy by JK, without Hogwarts, the book is no longer confined to 7 years of school. She can take 10, 15, 10000 books before finally writing Harry killing Voldemort, but I'll bet that Hogwarts will reopen AND someone would convince Harry to go back to school.

Last tthing i want to say about the book is the way that Harry broke up with Ginny in the end. It reminds me of a certain movie, Spider-man. Can it be true that JK is running out of ideas?!? Harry broke up because he didn't want to endanger Ginny's life, same reason Peter gave to MaryJane. Harry broke up at Dumbledore's furneral, Peter broke up at Uncle Ben's furneral. How coincidental can it get?

In the end, I still give the book a resounding two thumbs up. ( Like anyone give a hoot... hahahaha )

hahahaha... tomorrow is national day!!! YAY!!! it's the second day of school and it's a public holiday... still don't have my 5th module... just bid this morning... hope to have it by the end of the day... if not there's still tomorrow...

on a totally different and non related note... xiaxue has not been updating her commercial blog... it's now like updated once in 3 days... not really sad... but it's one less read...

sesame street...

hahaha... watching sesame street after lunch now... i'm sure that everyone has watched sesame street before sometime in your life before... well if you haven't seen a single episode of sesame street before then maybe you wouldn't know that every episode has an overall story... welll long ago the story runs through the entire show with all the little segments breaking it up... now the story is played out in the first 20 minutes of the show, then it's the letter of the day and number of the day segments for the next 15 minutes... then the last 15 minutes or so is elmo's world...

anyways... i think even though it's a show for pre-school kids... they do try to appeal to older kids... today's story is about elmo falling in love with gina... elmo wants to marry her and live forever with her and baby dorothy... dorothy is elmo's pet fish if you didn't know... but in the end, gina rejected him... so sad yet so funny... elmo got his first rejection when he's 3 and a half years old...

hahahaha... elmo is super funny to watch... he's super cute... hahaha childish behavior... but it's a great show... and this is elmo's song... the lala song...

la la lala...
la la lala...
elmo's song...
la la lala...
la la lala...
elmo's song...
lalala laa la...
lalalala...
that's elmo's song!!!

in today's episode there's also an appearance by mrs laura bush... as in george's wife... well she was there to read a book called waabaa waabaa woo... it was funny... hahahaha...

WAABAA WAABAA WOO!!!!!!!
