a taiwan trip...
hihi...
sigh... i juz came back from taiwan... where the temperature is at about 20 degrees and everyone don't wear anything that the sleves end above the elbow... everyone tries to drag you into their shop for a meal... they greet you when you enter into a shop and say "thanks and come again" after you leave regardless if you bought something... so nice... unlike singapore sales people... no offence to anyone... the cab drivers are very skilled... they weave through anything... actually everyone weave through everything...
i reached the airport in taipei in the noon of the 19th of march...the sky is always cloudly... not hazy mind you... it's CLOUDLY... although it LOOKS hazy... apparently it's super high altitude so the top of the mountains are always covered with clouds...
i booked into a 2 or 3 star hotel... i can't really tell... we reached, dumped the bags and went walking around... the first thing that we saw was... the group twins... they were doing some endoresment or they promoting their album... quite cool... actually very cool... this day was suppose to be the day that taiwanese people were protesting about the previous year's presidential elections... but i didn't manage to see anything... but it was all over the news that evening... then after that we went to the tallest place in the world... taipei 101... even though its like taipei 101 the building's highest level is 89... the observertory... the lift takes only 38 sec to reach the top... goes up at 1010metres per seconds... the ride down takes longer... later in the evening is spent at a night market... this place is like famous for snake eating... i saw them butcher this snake... interesting... this place is also famous for jade shops... and sex shops...
second day started with a tour of chiang kai sheik memorial... nothing much... fed some koi at a pond... then off to dan shui for some ah gei... took a super long trip all the way there... then we walked... and WALKED... walked from the station of dan shui to lua ren jie... old people's street... up a hill and to the most famous ah gei shop in taiwan... ah gei if u don't know is a fried beancurd that is filled with dong fen... glass noodles... it's different from the dong fen in singapore cause it really melts in your mouth... singapore's one is like rubbery... then we walked to yu ren ma tuo... fishermen's wharf... far away... it's like an hour's walk... then we took a five minute bus ride back to the mrt station... then we went back to lua ren jie to meet a taiwan fren... xian mai... there we bought afew local delights... i bought some pastry made with winter melon paste... the shop is super packed... and the boss is quite an ass... he pushes people out of his shop... xiao mai says it's cause the shop is so famous he can afford to do things like that... still it's a bad rep... opposite the shop is this shop sells fish crackers... this is also famous... then there's this thing call iron eggs... this i didn't buy... black eggs that are harder than normal... dosen't sound too appealing... the later part of the day was spent at xi men di... which is where the hotel is... almost watched a art flick about jap porn stars... in taiwan you only need to be 18 to watch an ra flick... it's like super liberal... there's even nudity in the newspaper... not tabloids...
the third day began with a trip to the hot springs area... went to another place... bei tou... soaked in water... hot water... 43 degrees to be exact... it is hot... super hot... then went to a book store that opens 24 hours... it's like borders... everyone sits down and read... i saw this book about cities of the world... for each city they'll name some famous ppeople... for singapore it's annabel chong... hahaha... if you don't know who this is then ask around... the night is also spent at another night market... had chicken ass... chicken cutlet... smelly tofu... almost died of all the oil...
this morning i went to sun yat san's memorial... this is actually an art muesum... didn't go in in the end... i did go to the memorial part... they have this 25 guidelines for good governments...
